So I was sitting in history class and my prof suddenly busts out with this:
Barker's Basic Laws of Human Nature:
1) People do stupid things
2) Timing affects EVERYTHING
3) Hypocrisy is human nature
Granted he backed each of these statements with something in history (Custer's 7th regiment battle, Hitler, death by a split second) I must say this list made my day. Maybe I'm just in a bitter mood but, I couldn't help but smirk at the irony of presenting this list to our class today. Alhamdulilah.
On a quite different topic--has anyone ever analyzed the Apple marketing strategy? MashaAllah if I do say so myself, its no wonder they are such a growing trend in technology purchases. Granted, getting used to the different interface takes a lil' bit of learning-their overall package deal is quite awesome for what you get and pay, not to mention their superior customer service and accessibility. Okay so I'm done now :)

I totally agree with this Law! Especially no. 2. This morning, I just got into a HOT discussion with my roommate and the timing is so not right. It was early in the morning, I just woke up and trying to smile and be appreciative to Allah the AlMighty. But the discussion kinda ruined my day and now I am sad and kinda depressed. Wallahi, when we are trying to bring up certain issues to someone, please look at the timing. In the morning, after coming back from work, and after a looooonggg hard day, that's not the best time to discuss.
About hypocrisy, i think we all have it in ourselves no matter how small it is. Because we tend to care too much about what other people might say about us. But please don't confuse with Munafiqun. They are trying to impress people in the matter of Deen.
Anyway, need better definition of hypocrisy.
Wallahu'alam.
I will see you both tonight!!! I want candy apples!
Interesting take on the timing thing. My take had been a more fate-oriented approach with a split second difference being something that could completely and utterly change your life. Interesting comment to your point though is that is something I have heard time and time again from my dad to my mom. I never fully understood why either until I started working myself and realized how much pressure and frustration could be correlated to getting more stress the second you get home.
Anyways, I hope inshaAllah you are happy again and things worked out with your roommate. If not, there's always more candy apples--you could always just take that extra fourth ;)
